The headline fixture of Saturday night’s European football schedule sees Italian champions Juventus visit rivals AC Milan.
With the hosts finally looking like they could be ready to at least challenge for Champions League qualification this term, this game arguably carries more importance than most other recent encounters. And you can watch the drama unfold from 7:45PM UK time.
Are AC Back?
After spending three years outside of the top six, AC Milan finally look rejuvenated under the management of Vincenzo Montella.
The Rossoneri enter the weekend sitting third in the table, and they’d certainly accept that come the end of the season. The San Siro has finally regained some of its fortress status, at least for the red and black part of the city, and the hosts enter this clash having won three of their four home games.
Moreover, the attacking qualities of Carlos Bacca, Mbaye Niang and co. have seen the hosts score seven in their last two matches alone. At the other end, teen sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma continues to thrive between the sticks.
Milan will be under no illusions and know this is a massive uphill battle. Under the circumstances, though, they can certainly be optimisic.
Higuain & Co. Aiming To Extend Lead At Top
Despite losing the world’s most expensive player over the summer, Massimiliano Allegri’s champions have maintained their exceptionally high standards and boast seven wins from their eight league games in 2016-17.
Record signing Gonzalo Higuain has certainly increased Juve’s attacking qualities, scoring six league goals already on the back of his incredible 2015-16 campaign at Napoli. Compatriot Paulo Dybala has impressed in the early weeks too while Gianluigi Buffon and his defenders have already managed four clean sheets.
But while Juventus look formidable, they have lost at the San Siro already this season with their one league defeat being inflicted by Inter. Playing 35 minutes with 10 men in France on Tuesday night arguably isn’t the best preparation either, even if the Italians did still register a 1-0 win in Lyon.
Juventus are capable of greatness, but this will be one of their toughest tests of the season. It should be a gripping encounter from the first whistle to the last. We’ll be watching on Bet365, and will hope to land some profit in the process.
AC Milan v Juventus Betting
Even with home advantage on their side, AC Milan are the underdogs for Saturday night’s showdown and are priced 7/2 with Bet365. Juventus can be backed at ¾ while the draw is 11/4,
Juventus are the best team in the country, but this isn’t a foregone conclusion for the Old Lady. In truth, they’d probably be more than happy to settle for the draw.
After all, they’ve already lost to Inter Milan this season, just days after a Champions League fixture. We’d be uncomfortable backing AC to win, but they are more than capable of getting a result.
It could be a nervy affair for both sides, and it may well be settled by a piece of magic. Then again, it could just as easily be settled by a mistake. That’s why, as an outside bet, we’re backing an own goal to be scored at odds of 10/1.
