Premier League Darts 2016 Live: Week 7 Preview & Betting

Thursday 17th March. 7PM. Sky Sports 1

The PDC Premier League Darts campaign rolls into week seven, and it should be an absolute belter as the world’s best take to the oche in Glasgow’s boisterous SSE Arena.

Michael Smith has the week off as he doubled up earlier in the campaign, but the 9 remaining players are bound to provide bags of entertainment in Scotland, and we’ll be hoping to capitalise on the drama by increasing what is already a healthy profit for the tournament so far.

Let’s play darts!

King Anderson Out For Double Delight

Defending champion Gary Anderson gave his campaign a boost last week with a comfortable 7-3 win over Smith, and the Flying Scotsman will be hoping to make it lucky week number seven in Glasgow. Not least because he plays twice in order to compensate for his absence back in week one.

However, Anderson shouldn’t expect an easy night. First up, he takes on Adrian Lewis in the opening clash of the night. Jackpot registered a 7-3 win of his own last week, making a three-dart average of 107.93 and the fast-throwing former world champ will be hopeful of reaching 10 points with a win. It could be an absolute cracker.

Anderson is then back on stage for the night’s final showdown as he takes on compatriot Peter Wright. Snakebite starts the night one point above the defending champ, but that could all change by the time he hits the oche. On the other hand, the underdog will hope to capitalise on the long break faced by the favourite.

Whatever happens, Anderson will almost certainly reach phase two. However, a big night in Glasgow could put him back in the driving seat for a crucial top four position. Whatever happens, it should be intriguing to say the least.

Can MVG Shut Down The Power?

Thursday’s action also sees the top two collide and it should be an incredible battle as the world’s greatest ever takes on the man currently writing his own record book. Phil Taylor. Michael van Gerwin. Wow.

Both men have averaged three-dart averages of well over 100 over the first six weeks of the tournament, registering over 20 maximums apiece. MVG has had the better of Taylor in smaller events, but it could be an intense battle in Scotland here. Expect fireworks.

Elsewhere, struggling Robert Thornton is in desperate need of a first win, but could be in for another disappointing night against an in-form James Wade. In the final clash, Raymond van Barneveld takes on Dave Chisnall; the winner will be virtually safe to reach phase two while the loser could be dragged into a battle. A draw might not really help anyone.

Glasgow always serves a fascinating night of drama. We wouldn’t expect that to change here. With a bit of luck, we’ll be bashing the bookies for some easy profit too.

Premier League Darts: Week 7 Betting

Michael van Gerwin smashed the highest checkout total last week to provide us with a winning single, but this week we’re going for a double as our main bet.

Firstly, we’re backing Wade to hit at least three maximums in his match against rock-bottom Thornton. Then, we’re hoping the 180-hungry Chizzy will score more maximums than Barney. At odds of nearly 2/1, it has to be worth a punt.

Last weekend we were just one leg away from clinching the five-fol. However, the refund for only one losing selection did suffer the blow slightly.

Let’s hope to go one step better here by landing a huge 42/1 winner. Good luck!
