PDC World Darts Begins Friday 14th December – Champ Lewis In Action

Friday sees the start of the annual Christmas time tradition which is the PDC World Championships, and Adrian Lewis has got his sights set on his third successive title in front of the vocal and at times downright crazy Alexandra Palace arrers fans.

Lewis, although a strong fancy of many darts enthusiasts, still has to give up bookies favouritism to veteran dartist and legend Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor, who is quoted at a best price of 2/1 with Ladbrokes , who also sponsor the tournament.

Formerly under the wing of Taylor as a student of martial darts, Lewis has been set free for a number of years now, and has rightly matured into Taylor’s most feared opponent. The 12/1 Ladbrokes are offering about a Lewis victory looks absolutely huge value, especially when Taylor’s lack of recent form is taken into consideration.

Sandwiched between Taylor and Lewis in the betting is Dutchman Michael Van Gerwen. The bald-headed 23-year-old (hehe) has been unstoppable this year, already claiming the World Grand Prix and beating Taylor in the Grand Slam of Darts before losing out to countryman Raymond Van Barneveld in the final. Ladbrokes are offering 4/1 about the player in the form of his life, but is yet to get past the round of 16 in the World Championships.

It remains to be seen who will bring their ‘A game’ to the oche, but with Taylor sniffing out his 14th World title, Lewis aiming for a hatrick in 3 years and Van Gerwen breathing down their necks with vicious flames, the 2013 renewal is sure to be an absolute cracker!
