Wimbledon Tips Day 5 29th June – A Value Set Betting Yankee

Visit Bet365After almost 4 whole days of relentless action, we’re into round 3 of the Men’s draw but at the time of writing, once we eliminate Federer’s match where he is a 1/100 shot to win, there are just 4 matches scheduled for tomorrow thus far. Therefore, instead of tipping a big bet on matches I wouldn’t usually select, today I have a great value yankee based around correct set betting.

Viktor Troicki vs Juan Monaco (3/1 – Bet365)
My first selection sees me backing Argentine Juan Monaco to progress once more, despite facing the tricky Serb Troicki, who has a 2-1 H2H record over Monaco. However, 14th seed Juan is 20 places above Viktor and has been in fine fettle this week, back him to win by 3 sets to 1 here.

Nicolas Almagro vs Richard Gasquet (3/1 – Bet365)
Again I am expecting a so-called upset in this match as 19th seed Gasquet looks to overcome Almagro, ranked 11th in the world, for the very first time.

Crucially, these two have never met on grass, and whilst Almagro has produced some great tennis this year, he makes no secret that this is not his preferred surface.

Gasquet cruised to round 3 courtesy of 2 straight sets wins, whilst Almagro lost the first 2 sets of his tournament but battled back to win in 5. Get on Gasquet to win a tight game by 3 sets to 1 on his favoured surface.

Mikhail Youzhny vs Janko Tipsarevic (5/1 – Bet365)
These two tough competitors cannot be separated on their Head-to-head record and I expect a close match here.

Neither player has played out a 5 set match all season but I wouldn’t be surprised to see one here, I’d back the classy world number 8 Tipsarevic to just about have the edge over Youzhny (ranked 33rd) in a 3-2 win for the Serbian.

Florian Mayer vs Jerzy Janowicz (11/4 – Bet365)
Young Polish wannabe Jerzy Janowicz has played some impressive tennis, and this will be his 6th match of the Championships after fighting his way through qualifying.

German Florian Mayer will be his toughest test to date though, and the top 30 player should have too much for the Polish youngster who will no doubt be feeling the effects of a gruelling few days. 3-1 is again the tip, in favour of Mayer.
