Spanish Football Tips Sat & Sun 26/27th Jan – Elche Can Continue In Fine Form

EspanaIt’s been a while since I got an in-depth look at the Spanish football, but this weekend I’ve dusted off the keyboard and made a few selections to, hopefully, boost the January bank balance.

Elche v Hercules – Segunda, Saturday 7pm

Top of the league Elche have been my ultimate banker this season, and when you take a look at their record, it’s not hard to see why.

In their ten home games this season, they have won every single game, even when they haven’t played particularly well, the mark of champions in waiting.

Hercules, lying 17th, have picked up only eight points on the road and won only two games from ten attempts. You would think Elche would be long odds on for such a one-sided contest, but at 6/10 generally they offer value of sorts.

It’s also worth noting that 6/10 of Elche’s home victories have been to nil, these all being in a row, until the visit of high scoring Sabadell. That makes the 7/5 on Elche to win to nil very attractive.

Bets: Elche win 4/7; Elche win to nil 7/5 Ladbrokes

Ahtletic Bilbao v Athletico Madrid – Primera, Sunday 8pm

Second place Athletico are doing very well to hang on to the coat-tails of Barcelona this season when no one else is even coming close to living with them.

Of course, there success has mainly been built on a home record bettered by no other team, but they may represent some value in this away tie. At first glance, the stats don’t look so good, Athletico have picked up only 4 points in their last 5 away games.

However, the 3 defeats in that sequence have come against the big two and a Valencia side that remain hard to beat at the Mestalla. Before that they were on a good run away from home, claiming the scalps of teams both around and above Bilbao. Add in the poor current form shown by Bilbao, and two home defeats against relatively modest opposition in a row, and I fancy Athletico to bag another 3 points in their title tilt.

Bet: Athletico Madrid win at 11/8 with Ladbrokes

Mallorca v Malaga – Primera, Sunday 8pm

Another match I reckon represents a slice of value for any punter here as 5th place Malaga visit relegation threatened Mallorca. Mallorca have won only 4 games out of the 20 played so far this season, which includes a shocking run of late, winning only one game of the last 15.

Home appears to be no different to away for these poor sods, as they have gone 6 games without picking up maximum points at home. Malaga’s away form of late doesn’t exactly make pretty reading either though, but they have still managed to get beaten only 3 times on their travels.

Their form post winter break hasn’t exactly been sparkling, but I think this is the perfect game for this classy side to pick it up again and push for a champions league spot. I just can’t see them being beaten by hapless Mallorca, so I’ll probably have a punt on the draw no bet at a tidy price.

Bet: Malaga draw no bet at 4/6 with Ladbrokes

Good luck if you have a go, Elche are certainly the pick of the bunch for me.
