FOOTBALL ACCUMULATOR TIPS – 11th January

Last week we rightly predicted that Coventry City would claim victory away at Championship Barnsley. Unfortunately, that good work went to waste as both Leeds and Newport suffered shock defeats. Hopefully, the league schedule will see us return to winning ways this weekend.

Here’s a treble we hope will net a cool 8.338 /1.

Yeovil v Burnley

Struggling Yeovil will aim to follow up their FA Cup success by ending a run of three straight Championship defeats; however, they may find it tough going against promotion-chasing Burnley.

The Glovers beat League One Leyton Orient last Saturday but manager Gary Johnson would prefer three points in their bid for survival. The Championship new boys haven’t won in the league since beating Blackpool on December 3rd and now find themselves joint bottom and five points from safety. It looks precarious for Yeovil and it doesn’t get any easier with the visit of Burnley.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets are suffering slight inconsistency but remain just four points off the summit and currently occupy that second automatic promotion spot. Three wins from 10 will not please the gaffer as we enter the key stage of the season and some of those draws need to be converted to victories if Burnley are going to keep up their title challenge.

However, against 23rd place Yeovil they’ll have to fancy their chances. It won’t be an easy contest but this is the type of fixture that requires three points if the Clarets are serious about promotion and they should be able to secure the spoils at Huish Park.

These two are a complete contrast. The division’s second team have scored 36 and conceded 18, whilst the second-bottom side’s record is the complete opposite – 18 for, 36 against.

Burnley have gone seven away games in all competitions without a win but three goals in the FA Cup at Southampton will give them increased hope of ending that run here.

Hartlepool v Rochdale

In League Two, Hartlepool United host Rochdale in a match that Dale’s Keith Hill will consider a ‘must-win’ following the New Year’s Day humiliation at Scunthorpe.

That 3-0 loss to table-topping Scunthorpe was Dale’s last league outing and the side currently sitting 5th will be desperate to make amends at Victoria Park. Depending on other results, they could end the day in the play-off places and that will provide huge motivation for Hill’s men.

Bet now with BetVictor[/quote_right]Hartlepool look destined for a year of mid-table obscurity and in truth that’s exactly what the club needs. An unbeaten December run (1 win, 3 draws) has allowed them to climb up to 15th and, despite suffering a 3-0 defeat to Bury on January 1st , have now installed an eight point gap between themselves and the drop.

Rochdale eased to a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture and whilst we expect a tighter affair at Vicotria Park, the final outcome should be the same.  This game probably carries more significance to the away side and that could prove to be the difference.

A sneaky 1-0 to Rochdale would not be a surprise in this one.

Southport v Hyde

In the Skrill Prem, struggling Southport will be excited by the prospect of facing relegation certainties Hyde as they search for a valuable three points that would help them pull away from the dreaded bottom four.

The Soundgrounders currently occupy 19th place in the table. Last Saturday’s win over Nuneaton was their first in eight attempts but they’ll fancy their chances of making it two wins from two when welcoming rock-bottom Hyde to the Merseyrail Community Stadium.

Earlier in the season, Southport beat Hyde away to record consecutive victories and that is a good omen ahead of Saturday’s clash. With just 7 wins and 21 goals from 25 matches, it may seem a bit risky to back them at such a tight price but they really shouldn’t be dropping points in this one.

Do  you really need to analyse Hyde’s season in any great detail? Three points, no wins, and a goal difference of -51 from 26 games paints a pretty clear picture. Defeat would make it 10 straight league losses ; the Tigers are in complete disarray.

Home win. Simple as that.
