EFL Opening Weekend Betting Tips – Back Our 4/1 Saturday Afternoon Treble

The EFL season is finally here, and all 72 teams will enter the opening weekend with high hopes of landing three points. We’ve picked three teams that we think will do just that with hopes of turning £10 into £50.

Our three selections are split over League One and League Two. With three home teams on our coupon, let’s hope they can send their respective fans home happy. If they do, we’ll be punching the air in celebration too.

Good luck!

Bradford City v Blackpool

Despite difficulties off the pitch, Blackpool enjoyed a great 2016-17, gaining promotion to League One. Unfortunately for the Tangerines, an opening weekend trip to Valley Parade could see them come crashing back down to earth.

Gary Bowyer has brought in plenty of fresh faces this summer, and his men will be optimistic about staying up. Having said that, the Bantams were unbeaten at home last season and will be expected to be one of the stronger teams in the division once more.

Charlie Wyke, Dom Poleon, and and co. should give Stuart McCall’s men a fantastic chance of goals in this one while their defensive strength is likely to limit the visits to only a few goalscoring opportunities.

Blackpool won’t roll over by any means, but we’re expecting the hosts to prevail.

Doncaster Rovers v Gillingham

Staying in League One, Doncaster are another of the newly promoted sides. Unlike Blackpool, Rovers open their campaign. And unlike Blackpool, they enter their opener as the odds-on favourites.

Darren Ferguson’s men were brilliant at the Keepmoat last term while they also boast the momentum gained from their promotion. John Marquis and co. should score goals at this level, and this game should be a great chance to prove it.

Gillingham were awful on the road last term, losing 14 of their 23 away. While Adrian Pennock’s men will hope that this can be a new start, they could be in for a difficult afternoon here, especially given the long distance involved.

Doncaster should be fine this season, but an opening weekend win would certainly settle the nerves. Back them to get the victory.

Luton Town v Yeovil Town

Luton Town will have considered themselves very unlucky to have missed out on promotion in 2016-17 and will be determined to make amends by gaining a top three finish this time round. A home clash against Yeovil should be the ideal opportunity to start the campaign with a bang.

Nathan Jones has retained his best players while adding a few more and the Hatters should be ready for a big campaign ahead. The Lee brothers will be out to grab the headlines while the goals of Danny Hylton and Jamie Collins should pose problems for the visitors too.

Yeovil were far from great last season, and ended the campaign in particularly poor form. While pre-season doesn’t count for too much, it is worth noting that they’ve been losing those too. When combined with the corresponding 5-2 loss at Kenilworth Road in 2016-17, it’s hard to see where they’ll gain any confidence.

The home crowd will be enthusiastic heading into the new campaign, and we think they’ll be smiling come full-time.
