The last game of the season usually brings a few goals and that’s exactly what…
Both Teams to Score Treble for Saturday 30th April – The End is Nigh, But Goals Shall Fly
Only a few weeks remain of the season now and I’m hoping that with most teams relaxing, fielding a few new players and generally having not a lot to play for but pride, that we’ll see a goal filled weekend. I’ve been looking over the fixtures from England and Scotland to find a Both Teams to Score treble that I think can land us some moolah!

Exeter v Morecambe
Sitting 12th and 21st in the league, neither of these sides have anything to play for now, although if the season was 5 games longer Morecambe could well be dragged into problems.
The visitors have been in absolutely shocking form in the last few months of the season and luckily they have an 11 point advantage over already relegated York City. In their last 15 games they have collected just 2 wins and in recent weeks have lost by 2-5, 7-0 and 1-4 scorelines. However, despite their shocking defending, they have a pretty decent record for goals with 4 of their last 5 games resulting in both teams finding the net, although they have conceded an average of 4 per game throughout that 5 game run.
Exeter have had a pretty decent season and can move as high as 8th with a win today, though it’s mathematically impossible for them to reach the playoffs now. In 22 home games this season they have found the net on 18 occasions, but have also conceded in 17 of those. 9 of their last 10 home games have resulted in both teams finding the net which bodes well for us.
When the two met earlier this season it finished 1-1 and on the last 2 occasions the two sides have met here at St James’ Park it has produced the same scoreline. Today I’d expect Exeter to score 2 or 3 goals but I can also see Morecambe finding the net.

Woking v Eastleigh
Down in the National League now for a late kick off on the final day of the season. For Woking their season is over, but for Eastleigh, although it will take a pretty amazing turn of events, a big win here could move them into the final playoff spot but it looks pretty doubtful.
Woking games have been full of goals as of late with their last 7 consecutive league games all resulting in both teams finding the net. Here at home this season they’ve found the net in 17 of their 22 games but have conceded in 18 and haven’t kept a clean sheet here at the Kingfield Stadium since back in December 2015.
Eastleigh have had a terrific season and although they are unlikely to overturn a 3 point deficit and a 4 goal swing to make the playoffs, they can be proud of their achievements this year in what is only their 2nd season at this level. They haven’t been quite as full of goals as their counterparts but they have found the net in 16 of their 22 away games this season and have conceded in 18 of 22.
Their meeting earlier this season finished 2-1 to Eastleigh and their last meeting here finished 1-1. I’m expecting both teams to go out with a bang and produce some goals here.

Scunthorpe v Port Vale
This is a game that normally produces a few goals and with both sides coming into this in such decent form I’d expect that again this weekend.
Scunthorpe can still mathematically make the playoffs but they will need results to go their way if they are to make it. They’re 2 points behind Barnsley and have an inferior goal difference, but with 4 wins on the bounce they are giving it a real go with 2 games remaining. They’ve been incredible form here at home recently and though their home clean sheet record has to be admired, it needs to be noted that only 1 of their clean sheets here at home this season has been against a top half side!
The visitors are my very own Port Vale and since the pressure of making the playoffs has gone, Vale seem to be playing with a bit more freedom which has resulted in 3 straight wins, the latter of which have been convincing 0-2 and 4-1 wins over playoff chasing Gillingham and Rochdale. However, that 0-2 win at Gillingham was Vale’s first clean sheet in 9 on the road, although they have scored in their last 5.
The last 3 consecutive meetings between the two clubs in League One have resulted in both teams finding the net and with the freedom for the visitors coupled with the need for points for the hosts, I’m expecting a couple of goals at least.
