Norwich City V Ipswich Town Live – Canaries To Sing Their Way To Wembley

Norwich City V Ipswich Town
Saturday 16th May. 12:15PM. Sky Sports 1

A 1-1 draw at Portman Road means it’s all to play in this fourth Old Farm derby of the season as Norwich and Ipswich do battle for a place at Wembley on May 25th.

As has become the norm in these derbies, it’s set to be a contest both on and off the pitch and should provide plenty of entertainment at Carrow Road. After an incredible regular season, it looks as though the Championship will come up trumps once more.

We wouldn’t want to miss it for the world.

Norwich Firepower Too Much For Tractor Boys

Alex Neil might not have all his coaching badges yet, but the Norwich boss has worked wonders since taking over the Carrow Road helm in early 2015 and could cap a perfect opening six months at the club by leading them straight back to the Premier League.

Whilst the Canaries will have been disappointed at their inability to hold onto their lead at Portman Road, avoiding defeat was the main aim of last Saturday’s encounter and provides a perfect platform for them to complete the job at home.

Norwich’s squad boasts goals from several sources, as is highlighted by their return of 88 goal during the regular season, and that incredible firepower should see the team that finished 3rd see off a spirited Tractor Boys.

The expectations lie solely with the Canaries, but they’re blessed with the experience and quality to deal with that pressure and should extend their recent dominance over their fierce rivals by making it five wins from six derby encounters.

Ipswich Look To Defy Odds

Mick McCarthy’s men might be the underdogs heading into this second leg, but the Tractor Boys have already defied the odds throughout 2014/15 and could yet cause their biggest by booking a place at Wembley.

Ipswich have barely spent a penny compared to their other promotion rivals, which underlines their top six finish as an achievement in itself. However, now they are her, they’ll be just as eager as their opponents and will be looking to the deadly duo of Daryl Murphy and Freddie Sears to claim the biggest derby day victory ever.

The Tractor Boys did leak a lot of goals on the road in this year’s Championship, though, losing a total of nine matches including a 2-0 loss here at the start of March. In fact, Ipswich won just one of their final seven away games so the odds are certainly stacked against them.

However, anything can happen in the play-offs, particularly when you’re blessed with the division’s top scorer and the match happens to be a local derby. No matter what, it should be a thrilling battle.

Norwich City V Ipswich Town Betting Tips

With home advantage on their side, Norwich have been made the odds-on favourites at 4/5 with Bet365. The visitors may tempt some punters, however, at odds of 10/3 whilst the draw can be backed at 13/5.

It would be a magical story if Ipswich were to gain promotion on such a tight budget, but we just can’t see it happening.

Norwich are the better side and will be confident after that 2-0 win in the last meeting here. A repeat scoreline wouldn’t surprise us in the slightest.

The Canaries have scored goals from all over the park this term but we’re picking an outsider to score in this crucial play-off semi-final second leg.

Alex Tettey has scored just twice this season but the Norwegian does have a tendency to score some absolute belters at crucial times. We’re backing him to send Carrow Road into raptures against Ipswich.
