Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City Live Preview & Betting – Where Should You Put Your Money?

Sunday 2nd October. 2:15PM. Sky Sports 1

Just two teams remain unbeaten after six round of Premier League fixtures, and the pair will do battle at the Lane on Sunday as Tottenham host title-favourites Manchester City.

Both clubs have enjoyed fantastic starts to the season, and that should make for yet another thrilling encounter between these two rivals. Who will come out with the bragging rights and the points? Here’s everything you need to know.

Can Spurs March On Without Kane?

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad have wasted no time building upon last season’s foundation, and enter the weekend’s fixture list sitting second in the table with four wins and two draws from the opening six.

However, facing the Citizens will be their biggest test of the season so far. Furthermore, they’ll have to face Pep Guardiola’s men without star striker Harry Kane. Spurs will be hoping that Heung-Min Son will continue to fill the void in style, but the England man is a big loss for the hosts.

Tottenham still boast plenty of talent, however, and will be hoping to see the likes of Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela inspire the kind of performance and result that would underline their intentions to fight for the title this season.

It will be interesting to see if the long midweek trip to Russia plays a role, but Spurs did win both of last season’s encounters. That included a 4-1 win at White Hart Lane at roughly the same stage of the campaign, and they’d love to repeat the feat here. However, they will be underdogs for a reason.

Citizens Aiming For Seventh Heaven

Guardiola has transformed the Citizens into a well oiled machine seemingly overnight, and the visitors head to the capital having won their opening six Premier League games with minimal fuss. If they make it seven on Sunday, many will feel that the title is already theirs.

The league leaders will be without a few key players as both Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne miss out through injury. Summer signing Nolito is out through suspension too, but Guardiola is hardly short of options.

With Sergio Aguero scoring for fun, David Silva pulling the strings, and Raheem Sterling looking revitalised, City will be confident about continuing their 100% record. In truth, a draw wouldn’t be a bad result at all, but they would love to get the three points to send a warning shot to their rivals – especially after the midweek Champions League draw at Celtic.

One way or the other, it should be a thrilling spectacle. Let’s hope we can win some money too.

Tottenham Hotspur V Manchester City Betting

Even with home advantage on their side, Tottenham have been made the slight underdogs for Sunday’s showdown and are available at 21/10 with Bet365. Manchester City, meanwhile, can be backed at 7/5; the draw is priced 5/2.

Tottenham will be confident after last season’s results, but this City team is far stronger than last year. Despite Wednesday’s disappointment, Guardiola’s side still hit three goals, and those attacking stars will fancy their chance of more at White Hart Lane.

The physical absence of Kane is one thing, but the mental impact could be even greater. That could hand the initiative to the visitors, and we’re backing them to score at least twice in the capital.

As far as City are concerned, most eyes will be on Aguero. However, in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, Silva is arguably the key to Guardiola’s plans. If the Spaniard can stamp his authority on proceedings, it will have a massive impact.

We’re backing arguably the Premier League’s best technician to do just that, and are tipping him to be named Man of the Match. At 8/1, it’s got to be worth a punt.
