Tennis Tips Monday 10th June – Lino Can Wipe The Floor With Marino

Wta Birmingham – 11:00
Su-Wei Hsieh +4.5 games @ 3/4 v Jamie Hampton – 888Sport

The handicap is too big for Hsieh in this match-up. Hampton has had a good run recently with some steady performances in Brussels and the French Open, however this is now a grass court game, a surface she’s had 2 matches on in her professional career, so it’s a surprise to see her such a big favourite.

The change from clay to grass is a hard one for many players and having such limited experience on this surface leaves an element of doubt how she will react to it.

Hsieh on the other hand has not only played on grass many times before but she’s also had good results on it. She’s defending quarter final points at this event so losing in the first round here would have a big impact on her ranking.

I think Hsieh will do a lot better than the bookmakers think here and taking the value on the +4.5 game handicap seems a good play.

Wta Nurnberg – 14:00
Lourdes Dominguez Lino @ 5/6 v Mariana Duque Marino – Bet365

One of the closest matches in the first round of Nurnberg gets underway on Monday and we fancy the Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino to come out the victor.

Marino surprisingly leads the head to head 1-0 however this match was a year ago and Lino comes into this match in better shape.

Marino has had the more wins recently, however this shouldn’t be looked into too much with these wins coming in qualifying events against poor opponents.

Before the qualifying events she lost in an ITF event and had a defeat to a poor clay court player in Tsurenko. Marino on the other hand will feel confident about her game coming on.

Despite some defeats  she had a very good straight sets win against Wickmayer just a few weeks ago and her 2 recent losses have been against Suarez Navarro and Mattek Sands who are 2 quality players.

The ranking between the 2 is also a sign of the quality. Marino finds herself 162nd in the world compared to Lino who finds herself just inside the top 50. It may be a close match but Lourdes Dominguez Lino @ 5/6 can’t be ignored in this match up.
