Both Teams To Score Tips Friday 26th December – Back Goals At St Andrew’s

Boxing Day is one of the most important fixtures of the season and we’re hoping that this year’s offering will live up to the expectation with plenty of goals.

We’re backing these six teams to all find the target over the course of Friday’s proceedings and are hoping to score a timely 9/2 winner.

Birmingham City V Derby County

Steve McLaren’s Rams have suffered a minor blimp in recent weeks but will be confident about keeping their promotion dreams alive at St Andrew’s. However, a vastly improved Birmingham will put up a real test in this mouth-watering showdown.

The Blues have fared much better since bringing Gary Rowett in as Lee Clarke’s successor, winning four of their past five matches, and will be quietly confident against an out-of-form away side. After 11 home games, Birmingham have scored 15 times but also conceded 19 and that theme of goals should continue.

Derby have scored 15 and shipped 13 in 11 away games, which is another source of optimism for this selection as is the fact each of the past eight head-to-head meetings have ended in BTTS winners.

There were seven goals in Birmingham’s last match at St Andrew’s; let’s pray for plenty more in their final home game of 2014.

Colchester United V Gillingham

Goals have been a common theme for Peter Taylor’s men in recent weeks, with each of their past five League One fixtures ending BTTS winners and we’re expecting that trend to carry on as they head to the Colchester Community Stadium.

The Gills boast just eight goals away from Priestfield but will be confident against a Colchester side that has conceded 18 times in 10 home matches. However, the Eagles will see this as a winnable fixture and will want to increase their tally of 11 goals here.

Both teams could do with the points in this one as they each look to give their survival bids a huge boost. That should lend to an end-to-end contest here and we’re backing the attackers to get the better of their opposing defenders.

These relegation rivals shared a 3-3 draw in the Johnstone Paint Trophy just two months ago and if they can bring that excitement to this clash then fans will be in for a real treat. More importantly, it would almost certainly result in a winning selection for this coupon.

Wycombe Wanderers V Luton Town

Both Wycombe and Luton will really fancy their chances of promotion this season and each enter this crucial clash residing in the top three. We’re anticipating an explosive contest at Adams Park.

A return of 26 goals isn’t amazing by any means but the visitors always look dangerous in the final third and can take advantage of a Wanderers defence that has now conceded in 10 consecutive fixtures. However, the league leaders haven’t failed to hit the target since in a league game since August.

Gareth Ainsworth’s side doesn’t really boast any standout strikers but what they do possess is a number of stars chipping in with their fair share of goals and we’d expect at least one of those players to register another here.

Nevertheless, the threat of Luton cannot be underestimated and the Hatters can pick up a positive result in their final away game of the year. A score draw could be the most likely outcome – whatever happens, we’d expect each team to get on the scoresheet.
