Scottish Football Betting Tips Sat 24th August – Stirling Too Big For Clash With Rivals

ScotlandScottish Football Bets – 24 August

Our early season success continued last weekend with wins for Inverness and Raith Rovers and a returned stake on Queen Of The South who could only draw at Livingston. I have a definite edge over the bookmakers at present and hopefully we can take advantage of this for as long as possible.

Here’s what I’m backing this weekend:

SPL

Aberdeen to beat Hearts – 5/4, 1pt Bet365

The dons were unlucky to lose to champions Celtic last week when after holding their own for most of the first half they lost goalkeeper Jamie Langfield to a red card just before the break. Even with ten men they had a glorious chance to equalize before Celtic broke away in the closing stages to close the win out.

Aberdeen had previously enjoyed comfortable wins over Kilmarnock and Motherwell two teams who I feel are similar or if not better than this current Hearts team who have lost players through administration and thus have to field a very young and inexperienced side. The Jambos have done ok in their three games so far but this will be a tough ask for them and I fancy the dandy dons to be too strong at Tynecastle.

Championship

Alloa to beat Cowdenbeath – 13/10, 1pt Bet365

We backed Alloa in their last game at home which was a win over Livingston and I think we should go in again at a decent price against struggling Cowdenbeath. The wasps were unlucky to lose late on to title favourites Dundee at Dens Park last week and as I’ve said before they have some good players in a team who seem to be under the bookies radar.

The blue Brazil are struggling and everything I hear about them is negative, three defeats from four games doesn’t bode well for a trip to Recreation Park.

League 2

Stirling Albion to beat East Stirling – 10/11, 2pts Bet365

This has to be my best bet this weekend with the in form binos welcoming near neighbours the shire. Stirling have been as good as anyone in this league since early in the year and the recent signings of David Weatherston and Dale Fulton have made them even stronger.

Stirling won this fixture 9-1 last time out and last week’s win over title favourites Peterhead is very strong form. The shire have won their last two games but these have come against strugglers Elgin and Queens Park, when playing better opposition they have lost to Dunfermline and highland league Formartine. Stirling are a confident bet for me.

Clyde to beat Queens Park – 13/8, 1pt Bet365

Queens Park will be without 8 players for their visit to Clyde and the value lies with the home side who opened the new season with a 1-0 win over Berwick Rangers before losing 3-0 latest against Albion Rovers.

Queens park were beaten 4-0 by Berwick rangers in their last game and it doesn’t bode well for their visit to Cumbernauld.

Others who I considered were St Johnstone draw no bet, Arbroath draw no bet and Peterhead some of whom I may still back once I get all angles covered.

An interesting option too is Inverness at Celtic. Terry Butcher’s side are a best price 9/1 for the game at Celtic Park and I wouldn’t put anyone off a small punt on this or indeed a bet that covers the draw or a narrow defeat.

Inverness are flying high at the top of the SPL and Celtic are notoriously poor before or after Champions League matches and both apply to this game on Saturday. The hoops have a massive return match in Europe next week and will possibly rest players ahead of a must win game for the club.
