Besiktas travel to Kayserispor for this Turkish Super League clash this evening, and a win for the away side is of paramount importance. Besiktas sit in 3rd place in the league behind leaders Galatasaray and Fenerbahce- who both managed to lose their latest games.
Besiktas are now just 5 points behind leaders Galatasaray with a game in hand. A convincing win here could also put them above Fenerbahce on goal difference.
On a run of 4 straight wins with an average of exactly 2.5 goals scored in them games, Besiktas are firing on all cylinders.
They are undefeated in all competitions since early November 2011; an amazing run of 15 games without a loss, and actually winning 11 of them matches.
Former Werder Bremen striker Hugo Almeida is the man of the moment; scoring 4 goals in his last 3 games and looking very sharp.
Ex Valencia midfielder Manuel Fernandes has also impressed, and Besiktas look a live threat to both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce for league honours.
Kayserispor are an average mid-table team whose form has been up and down all season.
While it would be foolish to completely discard them for this clash, it seems a tall task for them to really make an impression here against a very good Besiktas side.
Kayserispor did impress in December at home, winning all 3 games without conceding. However in 2012 they have already lost 0-2 to 9th placed Bursaspor and scraped a 1-1 draw with 14th placed Gaziantepspor in their latest home game.
A 4-0 away loss to Fenerbahce just over a week ago has confirmed to me that they are unlikely to be able to cope with Besiktas, making the Evens available at Bet365 look absolutely great value.
It remains to be seen if Besiktas can sustain their title challenge for the rest of the season, but for now they look a very good team, and should be followed.
