Holland v Denmark Saturday 9th June – Dutch Can Steamroll Average Danes
Kick Off: Saturday 9th June
Live on BBC1 5.00pm
After a fantastic opening day of Euro 2012 which saw us collect on both of our selections, tomorrow can’t come soon enough, and the daily fix of international competition should be opened with a hefty bet on the impressive Dutch side to overcome a distinctly average Denmark.
Average may seem harsh, but there is nothing about Denmark that suggests they can prevent the orange army claiming 3 points in this tie in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Holland qualified for this competition with ease; collecting 27 points from a possible 30, and looking the threat they have promised to be over the last 10 years or so.
They have world class quality in abundance. Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Rafa van der Vaart, and Jan Huntelaar can more or less guarantee goals, and while their defence may not be the strongest competing here, with a star studded front line, they could very well just outscore their rivals on the way to the latter stages.
Denmark are no mugs. They proved this by topping their qualification group with both Portugal and Norway finishing beneath them. However in my opinion they just won’t be able to cope with the constant bombardment of attacks that the Dutch will throw at them.
The Danes have promised to come to Ukraine attacking, which is very noble of them, but is that style really going to suit them or just play into Holland’s hands?
Being both teams first game of the tournament, the bookies are well aware that nations are trying to settle in and avoid loss straight off the bat, but I feel they have underpriced the Dutch here at 4/6 which is available at Paddy Power.
Denmark have won just 6 of the 28 meetings between these countries over the years, and haven’t beaten Holland in a competitive game (excluding penalties) since 1967.
In Robin van Persie they have a natural goalscorer, and with Robben and Sneijder providing the width, Holland look a very dangerous team, and should get their plight off to a winning start on Saturday.
