German Football Tips – Week 5 Predictions By Ben

BundesligaGreat to get back to winning ways last time out with 2/2 correct tips. After the international break, it’s back to business as usual in the Bundesliga with plenty of games that are appealing to the eye. The pick of this weekend’s games has to be Borussia Dortmund v Hamburg on Saturday evening, as Dortmund look to end their bad run against the North German side.

Hoffenheim v Borussia Monchengladbach – Sunday 15th September, 2.30pm

Both teams have had an average start to the season, nothing too bad as of yet as both sit around mid-table. Hoffenheim will want to maintain their unbeaten run at home and Gladbach will want to secure at least a point to help their push for European football throughout the season.

Hoffenheim’s young striker Kevin Volland has been a huge part of their season so far. The German U21 international has bagged 3 goals this season as well as bagging a brace for the U21’s against Republic of Ireland during the international break. If he keeps going at this rate, he will be challenging for a spot in Germany’s World Cup squad for 2014 for sure.

He could cause a real problem for a Gladbach side who have already conceded 8 goals so far this season. Missing from this fixture will be another key player for Hoffenheim, midfielder Roberto Firmino. The lucrative playmaker has already bagged 3 goals this season and will no doubt grab a few more before the season is over, but Hoffenheim will miss him this weekend through injury.

G;adbach look like they will be causing a lot of teams problems this season. Scoring 12 goals already this season, many people are claiming the ‘Return of the Fantastic Four’, based on the Gladbach team 2 years ago who’s 4 man strike force tore the league apart. 2 of those players, Marco Reus and Mike Hanke, have both moved on but new signings Max Kruse and Raffael are proving themselves as worthy replacements.

This game purely screams goals, both teams have scored and conceded a total of 42 goals between them in their first 4 games, an unbelievable amount. I cannot pick a winner here, and I cannot find any value at all in the goals markets so here’s my pick:

BET: Half with most goals – 2nd @ 20/21 Bet365
This is my only bet of the weekend but here are a few potential other bets that may interest a few punters:

Eintrach Braunschweig v Nurnburg – Nurnburg DNB @ 1.9 Bet365
Bayer Leverkusen v Wolfsburg – Leverkusen win @ 4/5 Bet365
Manz v Schalke – Over 2.5 goals @ 4/6 Bet365
