German Bundesliga Football Tips Saturday 31st August – Hamburg Too Good To Miss

BundesligaMatchday 4 Betting Tips

Only a few games in, yet some very impressive performances have been seen in recent weeks. Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are 2 of 6 teams unbeaten so far, whereas Stuttgart and Eintracht Braunschweig are yet to take a point.

With form lines beginning to develop, here are my best bets for Saturday’s German Bundesliga action.

Hamburg v Eintracht Braunschweig – Saturday 2.30 pm

Braunschweig have started off the way a lot of people expected, very disappointing, not gaining a point and only scoring once in their opening 3 games. Hamburg have not started well either, taking only 1 point which was a brilliant 3-3 draw away at Schalke in the first game.

Hamburg’s performance last week was much better that that of the previous week, which was an embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Hoffenheim. They deserved at least a point last week (in my opinion) in a 1-0 away loss to newly promoted, high flying Hertha Berlin.

Braunschweig have lost their last 5 games as well as 4 of their last 5 away. This is going to be another tough test for the newly promoted side, a test I think will be too much for them. The experience in midfield for Hamburg will be too much for a weak Braunschweig side, with the likes of Van Der Vaart along with the versatile youngster Tolgay Arslan being potentially big problems. Hamburg will really want to kick start their season, especially at home after the defeat to Hoffenheim.

Hannover v Mainz – Saturday 2.30pm

Both of these teams have made decent starts to the season with Mainz taking maximum points from their opening 3 games. This week they come up against a tough Hannover side who have won 2 out of 3, both of those coming at home.

Hannover will be without one of their best players for the game, after Szabolcs Hustzi picked up a 3 game ban in Hannover’s win over Schalke last weekend. In that game, Hannover boss Mirko Slomka changed the team around from the previous week, switching to a 4-4-2 formation and partnered Sobiech and Diouf up front. This proved to be effective in the first half as Diouf ran Schalke ragged, winning the penalty for the first goal and scoring the second.

Mainz will hope that free scoring Nicolai Muller continues his good run of form, after already bagging 4 goals in his last 3 games. He was influtential in last weeks 2-0 win over Wolfsburg. With the contrasting styles of play these 2 teams have, I can see this being an extremely open game towards the last half an hour of the game.

Hannover absolutely loved goals at home last season, scoring and conceding plenty and that’s what I will be on in this game.
