Galatasaray v Fenerbahce Live Stream – The Intercontinental Derby

Galatasaray V Fenerbahce

Sunday 6th April. Live on Bet 365 streaming at 5:00PM.

The biggest rivalry in Turkish football resumes on Sunday and, whilst the visitors may have already won the war, both clubs will be desperate to win this battle at the Turk Telecom Arena.

This one is always a ferocious affair, just ask Graeme Souness,  and this meeting should be no different.

Expect some explosive action.

The Intercontinental Derby

This rivalry is commonly referred to as the Intercontinental Derby due to the fact these two clubs are situated in different continents – despite the fact they are both from Istanbul.

Sunday’s match takes place in the European part of the city and home side Galatasaray will be determined to win in front of their own supporters. With 10-points separating the Istanbul rivals, Fenerbahce are almost certain to win the league – especially as they additionally boast a game in hand.

The away side are looking for a derby double after claiming a 2-0 victory in the reverse leg. Ersun Yanal’s side may have been forgotten by casual football fans this season as they’ve not been in the Champions League, thanks to Arsenal defeating them in qualifying, but they are definitely the best team in Turkey right now.

However, on home soil, Galatasaray will be confident. In particular, top-scorer Burak Yilmaz will hope to find the net against his former club.

Fenerbahce will beat their bitter rivals to the title, but they might not beat them here.

Fenerbahce Set To Equal Galatasaray Record

Assuming Ferbahce don’t implode, they will win a first league title in three years. In doing so, they will equal Galatasaray’s record of 18 Super Lig trophies.

Galatasaray joined Fenerbahce on 17 with their success in 2012 before retaining the title last year to edge forward. However, the rivals are set to be level once more and you cannot argue with the away side’s credentials for the title.

Despite Galatasaray boasting the big names of Mancini, Drogba, and Sneijder, it is definitely Fenerbahce who have been the better side this term.

Whilst Galatasaray have drawn far too many games, Fenerbahce continue to dig out results. Likewise, without having any globally recognised names, they have scored 12 more goals than their Istanbul rivals and deserve their place at the Super Lig summit.

The home side may have a former Fenerbahce player amongst their ranks in Yilmaz, but the away side have no fewer than three midfielders who once represented their rivals. The one that English fans will remember is Emre, a former Newcastle player, who has made over 100 appearances for both Istanbul clubs. This will be the 33-year-old’s sixth league title in Turkey, but only second with Fenerbahce.

There are a number of subplots going on in this match, but the main attraction is the rivalry between Turkey’s two greatest sides. It should be a classic.

Galatasaray V Fenerbahce Live Stream and Betting

In spite of the current standings, Bet 365 have made Galatasaray the favourites fro this contest at 11/10. Fenerbahce are 5/2, while the draw is 23/10.

Galatasaray may have the reputation of having star players like Drogba, Eboue and Sneijder but they’ve not performed well lately and are now on a run of one win in eight (all competitions) and must be low on confidence right now.

Converseley, Fenerbahce have picked up 17 from an available 18 points to pretty much cement their place as champions. They’ve won the last two matches 3-0 and will be confident of a positive outcome against their rivals.

Fenerbahce DNB is  5/4

As usual, this is expected to be an explosive affair. There is a lot of striking talent on display and we could see a fair few chances.

The last four league meetings at Galatasaray have seen at least three goals shared between the two sides. There’s no reason to think that run won’t be extended.

Over 3 goal line is 13/10

Galatasaray are in awful form and know that defending their title is probably beyond them. Fenerbahce may look to frustrate the home side and that could result in a number of yellows and maybe even a sending off.

With the advantage of streaming, we can monitor the early minutes to gauge whether this is going to be another ferocious encounter.
