Kick Off: Sunday 6th May

Galatasaray looked to be in panic mode as the season draws to a close when they managed just a draw with Trabzonspor, but it turned out to be a decent point due to the fact that closest challengers Fenerbahce lost 1-0 to today’s opponents Besiktas.
That win was Besiktas’s first victory in the Championship play-offs, and it looks like they have a tough task when they travel to Galatasaray today for a 5.00pm kick off.
This huge derby will undoubtedly attract nerves fro both sides, but it’s Galatasaray who have the most to play for. A win here will see them stretch their lead once again at the top of the table to a possible 6 points if Fenerbahce were to slip up against Trabzonspor.
Galatasaray have been the class act of the Turkish League this season and deserve to become champions. They have been a shining example of consistency all season, and with just two more games to play, the Championship is there for the taking.
Besiktas on the other hand have been rather disappointing. Their home win over Fenerbahce will without question lift spirits in the camp, but a win over Galatasaray at the Turk Telekom Arena is a huge ask for a team that hasn’t won an away league game since January.
Lions boss Fatih Terim will know that this game could be won on the flanks by Galatasaray. Emannuel Eboue and Engin Baytar have both proved very dangerous this season, providing plenty of goals for topscorer Johan Elmander as well as Necati Ates and Milan Baros.
Besiktas too have a potent attack with the likes or Quaresma and Fernandes, but their defence will be vulnerable against a very attack minded Galatasaray.
Despite a couple of minor wobbles from Galatasaray, they have what it takes to beat an inconsistent and generally out of form Besiktas, which should help them secure the 2011/12 Turkish Super League.
