Football Accumulator Tips Saturday 25th October – Bank On Cardiff

We’ve seen and enjoyed the midweek UEFA Champions and Europa League games, but now it’s time to get back to domestic action and a traditional Saturday acca! With teams from the Championship, League One and League Two, find the selections in our 20/1 acca below!

Millwall v Cardiff City

Currently situated seventh in the Championship standings, Cardiff won their first two games under new coach Russell Slade and, with the trio of Whittingham, Le Fondre and Macheda all in great goalscoring form with five goals in two games between them, looked offensively impressive in the process.

Hosts Millwall, on the other hand, are down in 18th place and haven’t tasted victory in eight games. Sure, that doesn’t mean that they’ll lose to Cardiff, but the momentum is with Slade’s Cardiff side and the Bluebirds (or is it Redbirds now?) have won their last two head-to-head matches against Millwall, including a 2-0 victory at the New Den in 2013/14.

Preston North End v Fleetwood Town

Third placed Preston are just one point behind Peterborough and the final automatic promotion berth in League One and have racked up an impressive streak of five wins in a row. Also, Simon Grayson’s Lilywhites are currently the second best home team in the league, winning their last three games and losing none at Deepdale so far in 2014/15.

Visitors Fleetwood Town are in a commendable 11th place in League One, but have lost two of their last three games. More notably for the purposes of our selection, after winning their first two League One away games of 2014/15, Graham Alexander’s men have lost five times in a row on their travels.

Barnsley v Bristol City

League One table-toppers Bristol City are currently the best home team in the division and are also, perhaps crucially, the best away team. Steve Cotterill’s side did draw their last game 2-2 at home to Bradford City, but the Robins won their last two away games and are undefeated on the road with five wins and two draws from seven.

Danny Wilson’s Barnsley, meanwhile, are languishing in 16th place and have lost their last two games, one of which was at home. Indeed, at home, the Tykes are ranked 22nd out of 24 teams and have lost three out of their last four contests at Oakwell, so we hope that Bristol City can make it four in five!

Luton Town v Northampton Town

Having won six league games in a row, third placed Luton Town are the form team in League Two right now. Indeed, after a bad start in which the Hatters lost two games and drew one, John Still’s boys have racked up four wins in a row at Kenilworth Road.

Chris Wilder’s Northampton Town are 16th in the League Two standings and have lost their last three games. The Cobblers have, however, won and drawn two league games on the road in 2014/15, so they’re not terrible travellers, but then they’ve still lost three times away from the Sixfields stadium, including in their last game – a 3-2 defeat at Cheltenham – and we think that Luton’s form can carry them to victory on Saturday afternoon.
