Fenerbahce welcome Bursaspor on Saturday evening and bid to make it 16 game unbeaten at home so far this season. The Turkish giants have been very near unstoppable on home turf so far, but will be angered that their trail bitter rivals and league leaders Galatasaray by 9 points going into this game- largely due to their below par performances on their travels.
With just 6 wins from 16 away from home this term, Fenerbahce have relied on their superb home results to keep them in the hunt to retain the title they won last season.
Gaining 39 points from a possible 45 at home, Fenerbahce won’t fear today’s opponents Bursaspor, who also have a similarly poor away record of just 4 wins from 16 games played.
While Bursaspor seem to be up against it today, they will draw hope from the fact that they are now unbeaten in their last 8 games in all competitions, and have taken 7 points from their last 3 away games.
Fenerbahce will rue the 4 consecutive away losses they suffered between late January and the end of February, but now seemed to of regained some composure after the wobble that could’ve cost them the title.
Top scorer Alex will have to be on top of his game as Bursaspor have won twice at the home of Fenerbahce in recent years; a 3-2 win in 2010 and a 2-0 victory in early 2008.
The reverse fixture this season saw Fenerbahce coast to a 2-0 win over Bursaspor, who at the time weren’t in great form.
Bursaspor are in much better spirits these days, but it will take a momentous effort to inflict a first home defeat on Fenerbahce, who are now in overdrive on their mission to catch Galatasaray.
