FA Cup 3rd Round – Giant Killers ?

Visit BetfredThe Fa Cup just wouldn’t be the same without the David and Goliath style giant killings. The Fa Cup 3rd round begins on Friday evening when Liverpool take on Oldham, and continues through to Sunday. I’m going to make my predictions where I think some of the bigger teams may come up against a potential banana skin.

Fulham v Charlton

League 1 table toppers may have what it takes to cause a shock at Craven Cottage this weekend.

The Valiants were eliminated at this stage last season; losing 3-0 to Tottenham at White Hart Lane, but could cause more problems for Fulham this season.

Fulham have improved in recent weeks, but are still in the relegation mix and may choose to play youngsters and squad players for this game. Charlton have scored plenty of goals this season, and could find themselves in with a real chance here.

MK Dons v QPR

QPR boss Neil Warnock is one of the managers that has no problem with putting out very weak teams in this competition and MK Dons have the ability and form to punish QPR.

Milton Keynes have only lost once at home in the league this season, and will be relishing the chance to cause an FA Cup upset.

The Hoops have looked pretty flat for the last couple of months, and it remains to be seen if they are truly focused on a trip to the town famous for it’s roundabouts.

MK don’t have the greatest record in this tournament, but their intentions were clear when they beat Nantwich 6-0 in the previous round.

At odds of 7/4 with Betfred, MK Dons could well be celebrating a giant killing at 5 o’clock on Saturday evening.

In other matches, Swindon will fancy their chances against a Wigan side who will be concentrating on their relegation battle rather than the cup, and Fleetwood Town will also give it a good shot against Blackpool.

Who do you think could cause an upset this weekend? It will be interesting to see what readers are thinking. Why not leave us a comment on your thoughts!
