Double Chance Selection – Sunday 19th February

Visit SkybetAnyone following my Double Chance selections will know that I’ve been desperately unlucky in my first two tips posted. Both bets have gone down to penalties scored in injury time. Firstly by Coventry in midweek, followed by Rochdale on Saturday; spoiling 6/4 and 5/2 returns respectively.

That’s just the way it goes sometimes, and as a bettor/punter you’ve just got to get used to taking the rough with the smooth.

Anyway, I’ve looked through the Sunday fixture list and there are a couple of games that got my double chance senses aroused.

Crawley v Stoke 1 or X

Four straight league defeats followed by a home defeat to Valencia on Thursday shows that Stoke are not right at the moment, and don’t suspect for a minute that a trip to Crawley in the FA Cup will ease their woes.

The West Sussex club are looking good for back to back promotions, and it will be a surprise not to see them competing in League 1 next season.

Crawley have already dispatched of Championship sides Bristol City and Hull in the FA Cup this term, and I really think Stoke will struggle here.

After their tough 1st leg Europa League tie on Thursday it’s likely Tony Pulis will rest at least a few of his strongest players before the return leg next Thursday.

Whether this be the case or not, Crawley can give as good as they get here, and the 4/5 that Sky Bet offer about Crawley or the draw looks a very nice investment.

Aberdeen v St.Johnstone 1 or X

Although sitting in the wrong half of the table, Aberdeen have a solid home record this season of W5 D5 L3. Their three losses have been to the current tip three in the league Motherwell, Rangers and Celtic.

The Dons won’t win any awards for goal volume, but the fact is they have now kept 4 consecutive clean sheets at Pittodrie.

Opponents St.Johnstone have a better record on their travels than at home so far, but are without a win in their last 4 games in all competitions, conceding 11 goals in the process.

I’m not predicting a comfortable home win here, far from it. But do I think Aberdeen can avoid defeat here? You bet I do!
