Daily Double Saturday 2nd June – ACN Winners Zambia Too Big For Trip To Sudan

ZambiaYesterday’s daily double was stopped in it’s tracks by a very poor Italy who managed to lose 3-0 to Russia on neutral territory in Austria. The nature of their loss, and the fact that it was their final warm up game before Euro 2012, suggests that they don’t have what it takes to challenge at the highest level, and they should be ignored.

Today sees plenty of African World Cup qualifiers, and this is where I’m going to turn my attention, and I think I’ve found a real peach in Zambia….

Sudan v ZAMBIA(Double chance with draw) 6.00pm (21/50 Bet365)

Zambia showed bundles of improvement back in January to win the African Nations Cup, and they should be able to kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign in style against Sudan.

The teams met in the quarter finals of January’s competition, resulting in a comfortable 3-0 victory for Zambia, further strengthening my decision to back the visitors here.

There’s a possibility that both nations will be a bit rusty here. Zambia have played just once since their African Nations win; a 0-0 draw with Angola just over a fortnight ago, while Sudan haven’t played again since their quarter final loss.

With this in mind I feel a bit safer backing Zambia and the draw in a ‘double chance’ bet. I just can’t see them losing here.

BURKINA FASO v Congo 7.00pm (1/2 Bet365)

Burkina Faso were billed as dark horses for the African Nation Cup back in January, but that just didn’t materialise; they lost all 3 of their group games.

However since then, Belgian coach Paul Put, the man responsible for taking Zambia to a record high Fifa ranking of 65, has taken the reins.

While bare results form suggest that Congo may be in better spirits, the opposition they have faced is markedly lower in ability that that of Burkina Faso’s.

Congo lost 4 of their 6 games just in trying to qualify for the ACN finals, and only had to beat Sao Tome to get to the group stage of World Cup Qualifying.
