Champions League 4th November – Arsenal and Liverpool in Action

Real Madrid vs Liverpool

Where? Santiago Bernabeu

When? Tuesday 4th November

What time? 19:45 BST

Liverpool won’t have forgotten the beating they were given when they hosted Real Madrid at Anfield in the Champions League two weeks ago, and supporters will be fearful of a repeat given the venue this time. The Reds lost 3-0 to Real at home, and have since been held to a 0-0 draw at Anfield to Hull City, while losing 1-0 away to Newcastle last weekend.

It’s certainly a bad time for Brendan Rodgers’ side to be travelling to the Santiago Bernabeu to turn their European campaign around.

Real Madrid are coming off the back of 10 consecutive victories in the league and Europe, with fierce rivals Barcelona being one of their recent wins. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are top of their Champions League group, with maximum points from three games, and sit at the summit of La Liga after week 10.

Match betting:

An impotent Liverpool side have been struggling following the absence of striker Daniel Sturridge, with the Reds scoring one goal or less in eight of their 13 games in the league & Europe, and as a result William Hill are giving odds of 1/4 for Liverpool to score under 1.5 goals against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Real Madrid, on the other hand have been full of goals this season, averaging 3.5 per game in all competitions combined. Los Blancos have rippled the back of the net 37 times in the league alone. Boylesports are giving odds of 4/6 for Real Madrid to score over 2.5 goals against Liverpool.

Unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo is the man most likely to get on the score sheet given his recent run in front of goal. The Real Madrid forward has netted in 13 of his last 16 games for the Champions League holders, scoring in each European group game so far too. He opened the scoring against Liverpool at Anfield, and William Hill are giving odds of 5/2 for Cristiano Ronaldo to be first goalscorer on Tuesday.

At the Bernabeu, Real have been unstoppable. They average four goals a home game in the league, and have put five goals past the opposition in four La Liga & European matches this season. Due to their penchant to attack, they do often throw away a clean sheet by conceding a solitary goal, and therefore, BetVictor are giving odds of 13/1 for Real Madrid to win 4-1 against Liverpool as a result.

Arsenal vs Anderlecht

Where? Emirates Stadium

When? Tuesday 4th November

What time? 19:45 BST

Arsenal are coming back into some form of late ahead of their Champions League meeting with Anderlecht. After a slow start to the season that saw them picking up just two win from their first eight games in the Premier League, Champions League and Capital One Cup, they are now putting a run of wins together.

The Gunners have won their last three matches in all competitions, conceding just one goal in the process. Arsene Wenger’s side have only lost two games from 13 in the league & Europe too, and given they have lost only one home game in the Premier League since the start of last season, the Belgian champions shouldn’t be any match tomorrow night.

Match betting

Arsenal are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Champions League this season, but they have enjoyed two shut outs in their last two Premier League outings so they’ll be hopeful of making it three consecutive wins to nil. BetBright are giving odds of 10/9 for Arsenal to keep a clean sheet against Anderlecht tomorrow.

And while they’ve been much-improved stop the opposition from scoring, they’ve been getting among the goals themselves too. Arsenal’s summer signing Alexis Sanchez has scored four of the Londoners’ last five goals in the Premier League, while netting in six of his previous 10 games in all competitions. The Chilean has bagged the game’s first goal in three of the last four, and as a result Coral are giving odds of 3/1 for Alexis Sanchez to be the first goalscorer.

With Arsenal such considerable favourites to win at the Emirates on Tuesday, betting on the correct score could be a more profitable way to maximise your winnings. Arsenal have scored two or more goals in nine of their 13 games in all competitions, and now they have an improved defensive record, Coral are giving odds of 6/1 for Arsenal to win 2-0 against Anderlecht.
