Live streaming available on Bet365

Club football returns from the international break with what should be a fascinating weekend of action across Europe’s top leagues, and the action gets underway on Friday night in Gelsenkirchen as Schalke 04 play host to defending champions Bayern Munich.

These sides have provided some fascinating battles in recent years and fans will be hoping to see more of the same from two of Germany’s biggest and best loved clubs. Whatever happens, it should be a thrilling spectacle, and you can watch the action unfold live with Bet365 live streaming.

Can Schalke Kickstart Their Season?

Schalke have suffered a dip over the past couple of seasons and are no longer a Champions League outfit. The challenge facing head coach Markus Weinzieri was highlighted further with the opening day loss at Frankfurt, and things could be about to get a whole lot harder as they prepare to face the champions.

That’s not to say that Schalke haven’t got the quality to give Bayern a test. A strikeforce of Franco Di Santo, Klaas Jan-Huntelaar and Eric Choupo-Moting are more than capable of converting chances. The main challenge for the hosts is trying to create them.

Schalke are one of the few clubs that have regular gained a share of the spoils against Bayern in recent years. However, last year’s regressions were evident in back-to-back defeats, including a 1-3 loss at the Veltins Arena. Quite frankly, the hosts will need to be at their best to prevent that happening once more.

On home soil, Schalke can be optimistic. Nevertheless, it’s the Bavarian visitors who hold all the aces.

Bayern Out For Another Goal Glut

It’s a case of new manager but same old Bayern as the champions have started life under Carlo Ancelotti in phenomenal fashion. After lifting the German Super Cup, they won 5-0 in the DFB Pokal before starting their league campaign with a 6-0 demolition of Werder Bremen. The visitors will expect nothing less than another three points here.

Given that Schalke have followed a not too dissimilar drop in quality to Bremen, Bayern will fancy their chances of another big score. Star striker Robert Lewandowski enters the match looking for a third hat-trick in as many club matches while the return of Franck Ribery has given the visitors another boost at the start of 2016-17.

The international breaks always carry the danger of disrupting the flow of a team, but Bayern’s world-class superstars should be just fine. If they do play to their potential, Ancelotti’s perfect start will almost certainly continue.

Watching Bayern is always a treat. With a little luck, our bets will land some profit too.

Schalke v Bayern Munich Betting

Even with home advantage on their side, Schalke are huge underdogs in this one and it’s reflecting in the betting odds. They are available at 9/1 with Bet365 while Bayern are priced 2/7; the draw can be backed at 19/4.

Schalke are still one of the Bundesliga’s stronger outfits. Nonetheless, they aren’t the side that they were two or three years ago. Conversely, Bayern are looking better than ever, and this should show at the Veltins.

Backing a team to win both halves is always risky on the road. But should Bayern play to their potential, they should achieve it with relative ease. At 6/4, it’s well worth a punt.

Lewandowski has started the campaign in lethal form, scoring in the opening 15 minutes of those last two matches, as well as netting in the first half of Poland’s draw in Kazakhstan. He’s scoring goals, and he’s scoring them fast. We’re backing the trend to continue.

The odds might not be great, but he is Bayern’s main source of goals by a considerable distance. Back him to prove it once again by netting the game’s opener here.
