The BTTS Coupon Saturday 26th April

It’s the penultimate weekend of the Football League season and teams up and down the country will be looking to put on a good show for their respective fans.

Here are three games that we think will provide some great end of season entertainment, including goals at both ends.

Birmingham City V Leeds United

At St Andrews, Lee Clark’s Birmingham City are in desperate need of three points as they look to cement their place in the division next season.

As it stands, the Blues are safe by a virtue of goal difference only and will be very concerned as we enter the final straight. With only two games remaining, falling into the drop zone now could prove to be unfixable.

Birmingham’s defensive problems are vast and the Blues are now on a 14-match run since their last clean sheet. At home, the Blues have conceded at least twice in each of their past nine fixtures.

On a brighter note, the Brummies do tend to score in the right end more often than not. Clark’s side have failed to score just twice at home in 2014 and will be immensely confident of finding the target against an out-of-form Leeds.

Two wins offered the Yorskire club a temporary respite, but they were brought crashing back to earth against Forest last week. However, Leeds will be confident of scoring at St Andrews.

It’s a hard contest to predict the outcome of, but there should be plenty of goals.

Bournemouth V Nottingham Forest

Another Championship that most will anticipate goals from is the clash between Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest.

Both clubs still hold very slim hopes of reaching the play-offs and will be doing everything they can to get the three points on Saturday.

After a tumultuous few weeks on and off the pitch, Forest seem to have finally turned things around courtesy of back-to-back league victories. Former club captain Stuart Pearce is set to take over in the summer, but the Reds will still want a positive end to the season under caretaker boss Gary Brazil.

Bournemouth have suffered a slight dip in form, but have still managed to find the target in each of their last eight Championship encounters. Meanwhile, Forest have scored in each of their last six, and have amassed a total of 65 league goals this term.

The Cherries have scored 36 times at Dean Court, conceding 26, and have been a favourite on this coupon for punters all season. Expect them to end their home season with another BTTS winner.

Bury V Portsmouth

League Two’s two in-form clubs face each other at Gigg Lane on Saturday and supporters could be treated to a cracker.

Pompey have finally appeared to find the right combination, winning five on the spin to pull themselves clear of danger. It is a far cry from the side that were severely threatened by the possibility of relegation just a few weeks previously.

Bury have enjoyed similar improvements to Portsmouth and are now up to 10th in the League Two standings thanks to a seven game unbeaten run, which was finally ended with the 1-0 loss at York on Easter Monday.

The hosts have scored 11 goals in their last five matches at Gigg Lane and will be confident of adding to that tally in their final home game of the season, regardless of Pompey’s improved form. However, the visitors are playing full of confidence right now and should also find themselves on the scoreboard at some stage.
