Both Teams To Score Picks Saturday 18th August – The New Season Begins!

Penalty kickIt’s been a long time coming but we have finally got there… The 2012/13 season begins and so do our both teams to score tips! I don’t know about you, but it’s just not a proper Saturday afternoon if you’re not watching Jeff Stelling and co on Gillette Soccer Saturday and willing them goals to go in.

We don’t have the advantage of current competitive form, so for now I will be using the tail end of last season combined with pre season friendly results to produce my tips. Here it goes then for this Saturday’s Goals Galore selections:

West Ham v Aston Villa 3.00pm Best odds – 4/5 Sky Bet

This is a game that is screaming out both teams to score. The form is hard to read as West Ham are playing their first game back in the top flight, but there has been plenty of goalmouth action in pre season for both teams, and the return of Darren Bent for Villa will be a big help for goals.

Nine of West Ham’s last 12 games have produced both teams to score, with 7 of the last 12 for Villa.

Another bonus is the fact that this fixture tends to be pretty open. Both teams have scored in 4 of their last 5 meetings.

Leicester v Peterborough 3.00pm Best odds – 5/6 Sky Bet

I fully expect Leicester to win this game today, and have included it as art of my banker accumulator. However, when Peterborough are involved there always seems to be goals, and a scoreline of 3-1 or 4-1 wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Peterborough aren’t strong at the back and rely on outscoring their opponents if they have the opportunity, but Leicester are a well balanced team and have more quality.

Three of the last 4 meetings between these two have produced both teams to score, and with both clubs achieving high margin wins in the League Cup during midweek, this looks a goals galore banker.

Exeter v Morecambe 3.00pm Best odds – 4/5 Sky Bet

This is another one that is begging to be backed. Both teams have scored in 5 of these two teams last 6 meetings, and recent form looks extremely encouraging.

Exeter managed a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in midweek, making it 4 consecutive goals galore games, and 9 out of their last 12.

Morecambe have exactly the same record of 9 from the last 12 games being successful BTTS, and beat Blackpool 2-1 in the League Cup just a few days ago.

Other games that appeal but not as strongly:

  • AFC Wimbledon v Chesterfield
  • Kidderminster v Mansfield
  • Tamworth v Stockport
