German giants and current Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich travel to 4th placed Borussia Monchengladbach for a Friday evening clash that is certain to have plenty of thrills and spills. Bayern will be looking for revenge after suffering a 1-0 loss to today’s opponents on the first day of the season.
Bayern Munich went into the winter break in good form, 3 points clear at the top of the table and also boast an impressive away record of 5-1-2.
However Bayern won’t be looking forward to this match. Monchengladbach are just 4 points behind them in the league, and are undefeated at home this season with a record of 6-3-0 and have conceded just 6 goals.
A 5-1 win over Werder Bremen in November showed just how formidable they are at home, and Bayern Munich would be very happy with a draw here.
Borussia Monchengladbach 9/2
Bayern Munich 8/13
Something I have noticed is that the 3 drawn Monchengladbach home games have been against Schalke(3rd), Stuttgart(7th) and Borussia Dortmund(2nd).
While I suspect Monchengladbach will be going for the win, it may be the case that they fall slightly short at the highest level, and Bayern most certainly are the best team in Germany.
The away win at odds of around 8/13 makes very limited appeal given Monchengladbach’s home record, so I believe the draw is the best option here.
Bayern won’t risk going all out for a win here for fear of being caught on the counter by a team that concede very few goals, making the stalemate even more enticing.
