Fenerbahce make the trip to Besiktas this evening knowing that a win over their rivals will see them go back to the top of the league with just one game remaining in the Turkish Super League
Galatasaray currently top the table on 46 points, but Fenerbahce hold all the aces with a game in hand and a 1 goal superior goal difference going into this hugely important clash tonight.
Besiktas have been dreadful since the Championship play offs began; without a win in their 3 games played, and just 1 point gained.
Their play off form has not been surprising, as they have managed to win just 1 game in all competitions since late February, and seem to be playing without any hope or confidence at present.
Despite taking the lead against Fenerbahce in the reverse fixture just a few days ago, they were unable to capitalise and a quick leveller from Miroslav Stoch was followed by a devastating own goal from Egemen Korkmaz with just 7 minutes remaining.
Fenerbahce know that his could be the game that ultimately secures them the Turkish Super League title, and will be going at it hammer and tongs to collect the 3 points.
Galatasaray have topped the table for the majority of the season, but now would be the perfect moment for Fenerbahce to show them that they mean business with just two games remaining after tonight’s clash.
After beating Galatasaray away from home ten days ago, Fenerbahce will face them again in the final game of the season on home turf, and current momentum and the recent win over their bitter rivals certainly gives them the psychological edge.
Besiktas will just want their season to be over now. The best they can hope for is a Europa League spot without having to qualify via the preliminaries, which in 4th spot they will currently have to do.
Much more is at stake for Fenerbahce, and I fully expect them to beat Besiktas this evening. Aykut Kocaman has seen his team win their last 6 games in all competitions, and have the added impetus of not being defeated by Besiktas in their last 7 meetings.
The Turkish Super League is really hotting up now with just two games remaining, and Fenerbahce have reached the peak of their powers at the perfect time.
Fenerbahce to win 2-1 8/1
Both teams to score 4/6
Fenerbahce to keep a clean sheet 2/1
Besiktas to win or draw 4/6
