Martin Adams whitewashed Scotsman Gary Stone 4-0 to set up his tie with O’Shea, bullying his opponent with some killer darts, and remaining calm under pressure.

Adams, who often fails to finish off opponents due to a few nerves, looked calm and collected against Stone, and played a perfectly steady game in which he never looked likely to lose.

England captain Adams said after his commanding victory ” I am still on course to win three titles on the spin. Only one other player has done that – Eric Bristow”.

“I want to equal his record and then perhaps I can try to get four on the trot,” declared Wolfie, who confirmed that he had the longest winning sequence in the tournament since the Crafty Cockney back in the 1980s.

Tony O’Shea also looked on top of his game against Scot Ross Montgomery, taking just 35 minutes to dispose of his opponent 4-1 in sets.

Nearly man O’Shea has obviously put his 2011 shock first round exit behind him, and has deservedly earned his place in the latter stages of the tournament.

Twice semi-finalist O’Shea will be looking to make it to his first BDO World final, but will have to be composed and in his best ever form if he is to challenge Martin Adams, who has made the competition his own in the last two years.
