Bastia v PSG Live Streaming & Betting – New Look French Champions To Start With A Win?

Friday 12th August. 7PM. Live streaming available at Bet365

The new Ligue 1 season gets underway on Friday night as champions PSG head to Bastia with high hopes of starting their season in style.

It has been a summer of huge change at the Parc des Princes as the Parisians have made noticeable alterations both on the pitch and the sidelines. All eyes will be on the French champions over the next few weeks to see whether they are capable of finally becoming one of Europe’s genuine heavyweights.

Will they start their league campaign with a win? You can find out by watching all the action live on Bet365.

Bastia Out For Opening Night Upset

A 10th-placed finish signalled a pretty good season for Bastia in 2015-16, but Francois Ciccolini’s men will be eager to enjoy an even better campaign this term. Causing an opening night shock against the champions would be the perfect beginning.

The hosts won an impressive 11 matches at the Stade Armand Cesari last term, but they did suffer defeat to the champions, and know it will be another uphill battle on Friday night. However, they have lost their biggest attacking threat over the summer as Floyd Ayite has joined Fulham, and that could be a problem here.

Bastia will need to be efficient in the attacking third too, especially as they’re unlikely to see much of the ball in this one. They’ll be hopeful that the early season rust will prevent PSG from finding the target. In truth, though, those hopes look rather thin.

The hosts are a decent enough side, but they don’t have the quality to match PSG. If they’re going to get anything here, they’ll need to be at their best. There is no alternative.

PSG To Continue Fine Start Under Emery

PSG would have been forgiven for taking some time to get used to the loss of both Laurent Blanc and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but the early signs are that they’ll be just fine.

After a perfect pre-season, which included impressive wins in three ICC friendlies, the French champions claimed a comfortable 4-1 win in last weekend’s Super Cup against Lyon. Unai Emery has also added the like of Jese and Hatem Ben Arfa to an already talented squad this summer, and they’ll be expecting to clinch a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title with some ease, starting with a comfortable win.

The champions registered 2-0 wins in both matches against Bastia last term, and a similar result would suit the visitors just fine in their first league match in the post-Zlatan era. With Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria and co amongst their arsenal, they should have no real problems.

However, stranger things have happened on previous opening nights, which should make this a fascinating Friday night offering. Bring it on!

Bastia v PSG Betting

Unsurprisingly, it’s the champions who are huge favourites for this one with Bet365 pricing PSG at 4/11 for the win. Bastia, however, can are 9/1 to cause an opening night upset while the draw is available at 10/3.

PSG will be the strongest team in France by a considerable distance this term, even after the departure of Ibrahimovic. And while the goals may dry up slightly for the Parisians, Emery could be keen to make them an even tighter unit at the back.

Given that PSG registered 2-0 wins in each of last year’s meetings, we think evens on another win-to-nil is very fair value.

The change of management offers a fresh start for some of PSG stars and, judging by last week’s Super Cup, Javier Pastore could be one of the main beneficiaries.

The Argentinian attacking midfielder scored one and provided two in the 4-1 win over Lyon. We’re backing him to follow it up by opening his league account for the season here.
