Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid : The Madrid Derby Live Preview & Betting

Live streaming available at Bet365

An incredible weekend of club football serves up colossal matches in England, Italy, and Germany. But none of them come bigger than the Madrid derby, as the league leaders head to the Claderon for what should be an explosive affair.

The already fierce rivalry has become all the more relevant following recent Champions League battles, and this league clash isn’t only crucial in terms of the city’s bragging rights. It could also go a long way to deciding the title.

It has all the ingredients for a classic, and you can watch the action unfold live from 7:45PM (UK time) on Saturday evening courtesy of Bet365’s live streaming console. That’s gotta be better than watching the X Factor.

Atletico Need A Win

Two defeats in three have seen Diego Simeone’s men fall to fourth in the table, and the Rojiblancos already find themselves trailing their illustrious rivals by a full six points. Saturday’s encounter is the perfect chance to close the gap, but they will need to be at their very best.

The hosts boast plenty of attacking quality, with French duo Antoine Griezmann and Kevin Gameiro already scoring 11 league goals between them. Meanwhile, the midfield talents of Yannick Carrasco, Gabi, and co. have shown their capabilities time and time again.

Once again, Atletico’s defensive record has been particularly pleasing also. Despite those recent wobbles, they’ve only conceded eight goals in La Liga. If they can frustrate Real’s formidable frontline, they’ll have a great chance of picking up the vital points.

The hosts are six unbeaten at home in the derby, and they’ll be doing everything in their power to keep that run going. But they’ll be under no illusions regarding the challenge they face.

Blancos To Remain Unbeaten?

Zinedine Zidane’s men reached the final international break of 2016 on the back of a colossal 28 game unbeaten run that goes all the way back to April. If they can keep it going until the end of the year, they’ll be in pole position to win their first league title since 2012. First up, though, they’ll want to leave the Calderon with at least a point.

Injuries to the trio of Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and Casemiro are far from ideal. However, the visitors have more than enough quality to still fancy their chances, especially if Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and Alvaro Morata are on form.

The Blancos haven’t been great at the Calderon in recent trips, but they’ve underlined their ability to perform when it counts and will be eager to do so again here. Meanwhile, they’ll be hopeful of capitalising on any frailties that may surface from Atletico’s recent results.

Whatever happens, it will be thrilling from start to finish. With a little luck we’ll be bashing the bookie too.

Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid Betting

Home advantage sees Simeone’s men enter the derby as pre-game favourites at odds of 7/5 with Bet365 while Real Madrid are priced 21/10. The draw, however, can be backed at 9/4.

Both teams have a few causes for concern right now, and the attacking units should be ready to take advantage. While it might take a few minutes to get back into the swing of things after the international break, it feels like this could be one of the more open affairs.

Recent meetings have been either really tight, or full of goals. We’re backing the latter.

Real Madrid have got to lose their unbeaten streak soon, but it’s hard to bet on them losing right now. That’s especially true given the quality of their attacking stars. In recent weeks, it’s Bale who has often produced the goods.

A goal in the derby could be another signal of the changing tides, and the Welshman is more than capable of getting it. At odds of 7/4, he’s well worth a punt.
